This design was inspired by the “Nao'e Golden Hairpin” (闹蛾金钗), a precious Sui dynasty hair ornament in the collection of the National Museum of China.

The original ornament features layered golden flowers, leaves, pearls, gemstones, and a delicate golden moth perched among the blossoms. The National Museum of China describes the design as capturing the poetic idea of a moth fluttering among flowers.

We transformed this ancient decorative motif into a contemporary wooden music box, reimagining the golden flowers and fluttering moth as a living miniature scene that moves, glows, and plays music.
